Students gathered for an assembly where groups of students, such as the step team, performed and spoke for the culminating activity. Caroline Middle School is pleased to announce the launch of our Eagle Scholars Program for 6th grade in the 2020-2021 school year. Any 6th grader who qualifies for one or more advanced classes, may choose to become an Eagle Scholar. Students will receive information and intent forms with the first quarter interim. They will be placed in advisory classes for Eagle Scholars beginning the 2nd nine weeks where they will given advise and support from the teacher relevant to the scholar’s work. During their 3 years at CMS, scholars will learn to research an area of intense interest and complete a capstone project showcase at the end of each year. They will also complete community service and learn what it is to be a school leader. Some benefits to the Eagle Scholar Pathways includes greater equity, increased access, aligns more with high school frameworks for courses, rigor through courses, rigor and focus on student interest through Culminating Projects. Posted on February 20, 2020 Approved 2020-2021 Instructional Calendar CCPS Board adopts calendar for 2020-21 school year The Caroline County School Board voted Monday, February 10, 2020, to adopt a calendar for the 2020-21 school year that includes: Two-week winter break (3 weekends) Full week spring break (plus Friday before) 3 Day Thanksgiving break A shortened School Day (15min. reduction to the end of the school day) After receiving input from multiple stakeholder groups and an online survey, the school division’s calendar committee made revisions to the initially proposed calendar and requested approval from the school board. The adopted calendar seeks to accomplish a variety of ends, including a pre-Labor-Day start, balanced job-embedded professional learning opportunities and clerical time for teachers, and different days for elementary and secondary parent-teacher conferences. The CCPS school board and calendar committee are pleased to have an academic calendar that supports high-quality teaching and learning with a shortened school day. Advisory classes were tasked with choosing a historical figure and make a tribute to them and their accomplishments. Each year, the athletic department at Caroline Middle School, gives shoes to students in need. This year, they were running low on their supply of shoes, so they mentioned it to some individuals as a way to to get the word out about the need for donations. The local Caroline Masons Kilwinning Lodge No 2-237 went shopping and purchased shoes for the students in need. Thank you to the Caroline Mason Lodge for donating two full totes of shoes.
